The US has reaffirmed that it shall continue to put pressure on North Korea until the country shows real sign of change.
Detailing human rights abuses under Kim Jong-un’s leadership, the State Department said in a statement:
‘We remain gravely concerned and deeply troubled by these abuses. In tandem with the maximum pressure campaign, we will continue to press for accountability for those responsible.’
This follows from news earlier today that North Korea has released three Korean-American detainees who have been held in the country’s labour camps for some years.
US President Donald Trump will hold a summit with Kim in the coming months, following the taking place of an historic summit between North and South Korea late last month.
