It has been reported that US President Donald Trump is planning on visiting the UK later this year.
The Telegraph has quoted an unnamed senior official in President Trump’s administration as having said that ‘I know the president, late summer, is looking at a visit to the UK.’
This shall be his first visit to the UK since he was elected in November 2016. Prime Minister Theresa May invited President Trump the week after his inauguration in January 2017, but no date was set at this point.
According to The Telegraph, asked whether Ms. May is set to visit Washington during the year, the US official said ‘I don’t know right now that kind of visit is on the schedule.’
Ms. May shall likely attempt to build on the supposed ‘strong relationship’ between the UK and US during President Trump’s visit, ahead of the UK’s departure from the European Union.
