In lieu of a planned visit by US President Donald Trump to the World Economic Forum (WEF), protests have broken out in Switzerland.
Anti-capitalists broke through a security cordon in Davos, the Alpine town he is due to visit to talk to the WEF, shouting mottos such as ‘Trump not welcome’ and ‘smash WEF’.
Approximately 20 protestors had to be peacefully disbanded by police before they could reach the Davos Congress Centre.
‘Trump is just one of the other people we disagree with,’ said protestor Alex Hedinger to Reuters, ‘We’ve been protesting every year now against the World Economic Forum and if Trump comes or not we don’t care’.
President Trump and British Prime Minister Theresa May are to meet ‘in the margins’ of the forum for a ‘bilateral meeting’. News on this shall follow.
