The president of South Korea has opined that US President Donald Trump deserves a Nobel Peace Prize to reward his efforts for bringing North Korea to the negotiation table and for pushing Kim Jong-un to end his nuclear programme.
According to a Blue House official, Moon Jae-in said on Monday that ‘President Trump should win the Nobel Peace Prize. What we need is only peace.’
On 27 April, the two Koreas held an historic summit at which the leaders of the two nations agreed on a pledge to work for the ‘complete denuclearisation of the Korean peninsula’.
Following this, South Korea’s Foreign Minister Kang Kyung-wha said:
‘Clearly, credit goes to President Trump. He’s been determined to come to grips with this from day one.’
US President Donald Trump is set to meet Kim Jong-un in a matter of weeks and denuclearisation is to be a key talking point again.
