Russian President Vladimir Putin has warned that, if western powers conduct further attacks on Syria, the world will descend into ‘chaos’.
This comes after the US, along with France and the UK, conducted airstrikes on military targets in Syria following an alleged chemical attack in Douma earlier this week.
According to the Kremlin, Putin, during a telephone conversation with Iranian President Hassan Rouhani, said:
‘If such actions committed in violation of the UN Charter continue, then it will inevitably lead to chaos in international relations.’
UK Foreign Secretary Boris Johnson declared earlier today that there are no plan for further attacks on Syria ‘at the moment’.
Both the US and Russia have expressed hopes to improve relations after this affair and the mass expulsion of diplomats following the Kremlin’s alleged involvement in the nerve agent attack of a former Russian double agent in Britain on 4 March.
