James Brokenshire and Penny Mordaunt Receive New Roles in Cabinet

As Prime Minister Theresa May reshuffles her cabinet following Amber Rudd’s resignation as Home Secretary yesterday, James Brokenshire and Penny Mordaunt have both found themselves with new roles.

Mr. Brokenshire, the former Northern Ireland Secretary and immigration minister, has taken over Sajid Javid’s role as Communities Secretary as Mr. Javid has been appointed the new Home Secretary.

He has said he is ‘delighted’ to have been chosen for the role and looks forward to ‘taking the Government’s agenda forward especially on building the homes our country needs.’

Meanwhile, current International Development Secretary Penny Mordaunt has kept this role and also been appointed as woman and equalities minister. She has thanked Ms. Rudd for ‘all she did’ whilst equalities minister.
